Today I submitted my PhD thesis. It represents 4 years of study, research, experiments and stress (I’ve been working full time as well for the last 8½ months). Things have been absolutely hectic recently as I’ve finished up the writing.

I think its fair to say that right now, I probably know more about audio-visual speech recognition than anyone else in Northern Ireland. What a claim to fame! Course the sobering reality is that audio-visual speech recognition will probably not make the world a better place.

And in other news…

I’m quitting my job next month and joining YWAM on their Shankill Rd base for a seven month discipleship training school. It will involve a lot of Bible study, prayer time, community work, and Christian outreach – all in a very challenging place in Belfast. I’m a little apprehensive, but very excited about it, and I know that God is in it. I’ll keep this blog up to date with how it all goes.

Now its time to chill, and figure out what life after PhD is all about.
