Canon 50mm is dead, long live Sigma 50mm! I’ve gotten over last week’s loss pretty quickly with the help of a new Sigma 50mm f2.8 DG Macro lens.

It’s just an amazing lens with 1:1 macro so I get right up close to things and get the sort of detail you don’t normally see. I’m dying to get a nice photo of a bumble bee…I did try the other day but it’s surprisingly difficult to focus on busy bumble bees, buzzing from flower to flower, when you’ve got such a tiny depth of field to play with…but I’m sure I’ll get a good shot of one eventually.

Anyway…

Heard a very challenging (and good!) sermon in Church today which asked how committed we are to the materially poor. The fundamental point/question for me was this: how can we have a heart for the poor when we keep them at a distance??? It encourages me more than ever to join YWAM and possibly change the direction of my life forever.

Church is really becoming a place of vision at the moment. It’s exciting and it’s already starting to attact new people. As Dolly Parton put it, “if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”
