What if the security guards hadn’t been able to stop Michael Stone on his way into Stormont with a gun, a knife, and possibly a bomb, earlier today? Doesn’t bear thinking about, as this guy had previously tried assasinating Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness, and had been part of a plot to assasinate Ken Livingstone. This could have been disastrous for our often fragile peace process. Thank God for the security guards (including a woman) who were able to wrestle him to the ground, and whose quick thinking was caught on video.

I’m guessing he figured he would be better off back in jail, as he is probably on a few paramilitary hitlists. According to link, he and his girlfriend exchanged bullet proof vests as Christmas presents in 2001.
